Harquus is a traditional adornmet for Women at Morocco, it refers to both tattooing and skin painting with henna, specially their faces. Even though Islam doesn't permit tattooing, about up to 80% of Muslim North African women were tattooed around 1930. Unfortunately this tradition is disappearing, but we still can find some women temporaly tattooed with henna. Tourists consider this activity not only beautiful, but also kind of exotic so it's common you get your henna tattoo at one of the biggest socos at Marrakesh. This beautiful moroccan girl posed for my camera at Chechaouen, also known as Chefchaouen.
